Dafeamekpor sues Ntim Fordjour for defamation

South Dayi Member of Parliament (MP), Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, has filed a defamation suit against Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour.

The suit was filed at the Accra High Court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, following a post Rev. Fordjour made on X (formerly Twitter) on May 8, 2025.

The former Deputy Education Minister had demanded that the Majority Chief Whip, as Vice Chairman of Parliament’s Subsidiary Legislation Committee, provide answers regarding some alleged payments made while in opposition.

However, Dafeamekpor has categorically dismissed the claims as “false, malicious,” and made with reckless disregard for the truth.

He emphasized that he was not even a member of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in December 2023, when the incident allegedly occurred.

According to him, the social media post has gravely damaged his reputation, integrity, and political standing, and has caused “serious injury to his character,” economic losses, and public ridicule.

Mr. Dafeamekpor is seeking a declaration that the statements were defamatory, along with several remedies, including an interlocutory and perpetual injunction restraining Rev. Fordjour from making further publications.

He is also demanding a retraction and public apology in both print and on social media, and damages exceeding GH₵30 million.

Additionally, he is requesting aggravated, punitive, and compensatory damages, as well as legal costs and any other relief the court deems appropriate.
