The Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta has announced that the one-week celebration of the late Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, will be held in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
This was disclosed in an official statement following the formal announcement of his passing to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace.
According to the Abusuapanyin of the Ekuona Royal Family, the final funeral rites will take place in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region. The specific venue, however, will be announced later.
The family said the decision to hold the final funeral rites in Kumasi stems from Daddy Lumba’s royal lineage.
“It is only right that his final resting and farewell be rooted in his hometown and royal ancestry,” the family head stated.
They added that preparations are underway to officially inform the Ga Mantse and the Ga Traditional Council, given the many years Daddy Lumba lived in Accra and the strong fan base he built there.
Acknowledging his global influence and enduring legacy, the family urged fans and sympathisers to observe the commemorations respectfully.
“We humbly ask that all who attend the celebrations and funeral behave in a dignified manner to honour his memory and ensure a peaceful and successful commemoration befitting of the legend he was,” the statement added.
The family also expressed gratitude to Ghanaians at home and abroad for the outpouring of support and tributes following news of his passing.
Further details on funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
