The Accra Circuit Court 9 has remanded building contractor Prince Kwame Fiatsi over alleged exportation of drugs without a license.

He is also facing a separate charge of engaging in prohibited business relating to narcotic drugs.

Fiatsi’s plea was not taken as police investigations are ongoing. His lawyer’s applications for bail have been denied twice, with the court citing flight risk as the reason.

The court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, has directed the prosecution to expedite the investigation.

The prosecution stated that witnesses in the case are authorised officers of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), stationed at its headquarters. Fiatsi, a Ghanaian, holds a passport issued on August 12, 2024, valid until August 11, 2034.

The court heard that Fiatsi was placed on a travel stop list by NACOC in March 2025 after the arrest of Uchechukwu Chima on March 18. Investigations revealed that Fiatsi acted as a courier for Chima. He was initially scheduled to arrive at Kotoka International Airport from Laos via Bangkok and Dubai on March 21, 2025.

NACOC placed him on a stop list to intercept him upon arrival, but Fiatsi diverted his flight to Conakry, Guinea, and entered Ghana by road through Côte d’Ivoire and the Elubo border.

Fiatsi was eventually stopped on July 10, 2025, while travelling by road through Elubo to Abidjan to board a flight to India. GIS officials identified him in their system and handed him over to NACOC, Elubo Border Command.

He was then transported to NACOC headquarters for further investigations.

During an interview with NACOC in the presence of his lawyer, Fiatsi admitted travelling to Laos with a bag given to him by an individual named Fred, which contained narcotic drugs.

He referred to the bag’s contents as “goods.” Fred reportedly covered all of Fiatsi’s travel expenses, including visas, tickets, hotel bookings, and gave him $2,300 as spending money.

Investigations are ongoing.
