The Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has ordered a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test for Liam Aloba, the son of late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The ruling was made on Tuesday, September 2, following an application by Joseph Aloba, the singer’s father, seeking to establish whether Liam is Mohbad’s biological son.
Presiding magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga approved the request, which lists Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, as the respondent.
The order allows the Chief Medical Officer or Pathologist at the Military Hospital in Yaba, Lagos—where Mohbad’s remains are kept—to extract tissue, hair, or other necessary samples for testing.
Joseph Aloba, through his lawyer Augustine Adegbemi, argued that confirming paternity is crucial for the child’s welfare and the mother’s maintenance obligations. Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, represented by Kabir Akingbolu, did not oppose the application, leading the court to grant the order.
The court directed that two DNA tests be conducted in accredited and recognized hospitals—one in Nigeria and another abroad—with both parties or their representatives present during sample collection.
The case has been adjourned to November 11, 2025, for further proceedings.
