In 2017, President Akufo-Addo announced the celebration will be rotated and held in each region annually.

However, after President John Mahama assumed office in 2025, the event has been held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House as part of efforts to reduce public expenditure.

At the time, government figures indicated that the event cost GH¢1.5 million, compared to an estimated GH¢15 million had it been organised at Black Star Square.

This year’s anniversary is themed ‘Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope’.
