Christopher Bonsu Baah felt no pressure during Black Stars debut

KRC Genk winger Christopher Bonsu Baah says he felt no pressure during his debut appearance for the Black Stars in their Unity Cup clash against Nigeria.

The talented winger had previously received a call-up for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Chad in March but remained an unused substitute in both matches.

Baah finally earned his first cap in the recent Unity Cup held in London, featuring in Ghana’s 2-1 loss to Nigeria at the Gtech Community Stadium.

He also played in the third-place match against Trinidad and Tobago, drawing praise from fans for his lively and impactful performance.

Reflecting on his debut, Baah told Joy Sports:
“I will leave everything to the coach because he was the one watching the game, so he has to tell me whether I did well or not. But for me, I just gave my all to my country.”

When asked how he felt upon learning he would start against Nigeria, Baah emphasized his excitement and calm mindset.
“When I heard I was going to start [against Nigeria], I was just happy. I said to myself, ‘Nah, this is the moment, I should just enjoy the game.’ That’s all.”

“I didn’t put any pressure on myself. I just went out there and enjoyed the game.”

Baah will be hoping to retain his spot in the national team when the Black Stars regroup in September for their next World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
