Christopher Bonsu Baah confident in Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualification hopes

Black Stars winger Christopher Bonsu Baah remains confident about Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The four-time African champions bounced back from a slow start in the qualifiers, securing crucial back-to-back wins over Chad and Madagascar in March.

The victories have propelled Ghana to the top of Group I with 15 points, with four matches remaining in the campaign.

Baah, who made his senior debut during the four-nation tournament in London, believes the team is on the right path.

“I think it will not mean a lot only to me, but also to my family and to the nation—everyone—because Ghana qualifying for the World Cup is something big,” Baah told Joy Sports.

“Not only for us, but for every country. When you hear or see that you are in the World Cup, it is something big, so I think it will mean a lot for us.

“We are 100% confident that we are going to qualify. For me, I think it’s every player’s dream to be part of the national team for the World Cup.”

However, the KRC Genk forward stressed the importance of maintaining focus.

“But as I said, when you focus too much on those things, you may not perform. You just have to trust the process—step by step.

“Now I go to my club, I focus there, give my all, and we’ll see what happens next,” he added.

The Black Stars will resume their qualification campaign in September with matches against Chad and Mali on Matchdays 7 and 8, before wrapping up the series against Comoros and the Central African Republic.
