Christian Service University deepens research footprint with launch of journal of Applied Science, Arts and Business

The Christian Service University (CSU) in Kumasi has taken a significant step forward in its academic journey with the official launch of its maiden institutional journal — the Journal of Applied Science, Arts and Business (JASAB).

The launch, held on the university campus, marked not only a celebration of CSU’s growing research culture, but also a symbol of its evolving identity and strategic renewal.

Delivering a keynote address at the event, the Pro Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Ellis Asamoah, emphasized the vital role academic journals play in shaping global knowledge and fostering scholarly communities.

“Journals are more than repositories of knowledge, they validate, connect, and inspire. Through journals, institutions like CSU assert their presence in the global knowledge economy, influencing policy, practice, and progress,” he noted.

He highlighted the qualities that make an academic journal thrive, such as editorial integrity, originality, accessibility, and sustainability, and encouraged the CSU to build JASAB into a globally recognized platform.

He added that a strong culture of research, ethical publishing, and institutional pride will be key to its long-term success.

The CSU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sam K. Afrane in his welcome address, linked the journal’s origins to key institutional milestones.

“This is not just the launch of a publication. It’s a celebration of our identity, our values, and our vision for the future. Following our university charter in 2023 and the celebration of our golden jubilee, JASAB represents the fruition of a renewed academic mandate,” he said.

The journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Rev. Prof. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, also lauded the editorial team’s commitment and swiftness, noting that work on the journal began in May 2025.

“The publication of this maiden issue is both a landmark achievement and the beginning of a promising journey. We remain committed to making JASAB a globally respected and accessible journal,” he remarked.

With a focus on applied science, arts, and business, the journal aims to provide a platform for multidisciplinary scholarship rooted in real-world impact.
