The chiefs and people of Acherensua in the Ahafo Region have commended the government for its efforts to establish a university in their community.
At a press conference, the Paramount Queen Mother, Nana Mintah Yeboah II, noted that successive governments had failed to prioritise the establishment of a university in Acherensua over the years. She described the current government’s decision as a bold and commendable move.
She further acknowledged the contributions of Alhaji Collins Dauda, Member of Parliament for the area; Charity Gardiner, Minister for the Ahafo Region; and Benjamin Assabil Donkor, District Chief Executive for Asutifi South. Nana Mintah Yeboah appealed to the President and the Education Minister to expedite processes so that work could commence promptly and the university could be commissioned within the current presidential term.
Meanwhile, the Akyempimhene, Nana Aduse-Poku, emphasised that the establishment of the university would significantly boost the local economy. He noted that towns and cities hosting universities experience accelerated development across various sectors and expressed confidence that the new institution would similarly transform Acherensua.
