The Hwidiem Traditional Council in the Ahafo Region has appealed to the government to establish an ambulance training school in the community to create jobs and stimulate economic development.
The Paramount Chief of Hwidiem, Osuodumgya Barima Apea-Dwaah Boafo II, made the call when the District Chief Executive for Asutifi South, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, and some officials of the Assembly joined the traditional council to celebrate Akwasidae.
According to the Paramount Chief, the Ahafo Region currently lacks an institution dedicated to training people interested in working in the ambulance service.
Speaking to Adom News, he said Hwidiem was well positioned to host such a facility and urged the government to consider the traditional council’s proposal.
He explained that establishing the school would not only provide professional training but also create employment opportunities, boost economic activity and accelerate development in the district and the wider region.
Osuodumgya Barima Apea-Dwaah Boafo II called on the Asutifi South DCE, Member of Parliament for Asutifi South, Alhaji Collins Dauda, and the Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, to support the initiative and make it a priority.
He disclosed that the traditional council had already made land available for the proposed project.
Responding to the appeal, the DCE, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, said he, the MP and the Regional Minister had taken note of the request and would work towards securing government support for the establishment of the training school.
He said the facility would bring significant benefits to Hwidiem, the Asutifi South District, the Ahafo Region and the country as a whole.
Mr Donkor commended the traditional authorities for their continued efforts to promote development and improve the welfare of residents.
