Chiefs and NADeF commission 3-storey hostel for Ntotroso Nursing College

The Chiefs of Ntotroso in the Ahafo Region, in collaboration with the Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF), have commissioned a three-storey, 24-unit hostel facility for the Ntotroso College of Nursing and Midwifery at a cost of GH¢3,997,073.55.

The facility was officially inaugurated at a brief ceremony attended by traditional leaders, officials of NADeF and Newmont, representatives of the Asutifi North District Assembly, as well as management and students of the college.

Addressing the gathering, the Paramount Chief of Ntotroso, Barima Twereko Ampem III, said the joint efforts of the Traditional Council and NADeF have significantly enhanced infrastructure at the institution, improving the learning environment for students.

He added that the Traditional Council is keen on seeing the college upgraded to offer degree programmes in the near future and assured that steps are being taken to achieve this goal. He also urged students who will occupy the hostel to take good care of the facility to ensure it serves its intended purpose.

Speaking on behalf of Newmont, Natalia Poku-Boansi, Team Lead for Social Performance and Communities at Newmont Ahafo South Mines, said the hostel comprises 24 dormitories, six study rooms, modern washrooms, and a serene courtyard, with the capacity to accommodate 240 students.

She reiterated Newmont’s commitment to supporting the growth of the college, adding that the investment will improve teaching and learning and contribute to the training of quality health professionals for the country.
