Chief of Anyima calls for urgent action to prevent Nkoranza-Mo land dispute violence

The Chief of Anyima, Obrempong Ameyaw Amponsem II, has urged the government and security agencies to take immediate measures to prevent potential violent clashes between the Nkoranza and Mo (Dega) traditional authorities over a longstanding land boundary dispute.

Tensions have reportedly been rising in the Kintampo area, where residents from both communities, who have coexisted peacefully for years, are now experiencing increasing agitation, particularly among the youth.

Obrempong Ameyaw Amponsem II warned that if the situation is not swiftly addressed, it could escalate into violence, resulting in loss of lives and property destruction.

Speaking at a durbar to mark his annual Yam Festival at Anyima, the chief expressed concern about the growing influence of social media in spreading misinformation and fueling unrest among young people.

He appealed to the government, the President, and security agencies to intervene urgently to maintain peace and stability in the area.

The chief emphasized the strong bond between the Nkoranza and Mo people, strengthened over time through intermarriages, and urged all parties to protect this unity for the sake of development and coexistence.

Obrempong Ameyaw Amponsem II also commended the peaceful relationship among Muslims, Christians, and Traditionalists in the community.

His remarks coincided with the presence of the National President of the Wangara Communities in Ghana, Sariki Fanyinama III, and other dignitaries at the festival, which highlighted the importance of peace and unity in the region.
