Chelsea prepare bid to sign Mohammed Kudus

Chelsea are reportedly preparing an official offer of £55 million in their pursuit of West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Ghana international has emerged as a top target for the Blues, who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

However, they face competition from fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, who have also shown strong interest in the former Ajax attacker.

Spurs are said to have already submitted a bid, which West Ham turned down. Chelsea, however, are expected to go a step further by proposing a package worth £60 million — an initial £55 million plus an additional £5 million in add-ons.

Kudus, 23, joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023 for £38 million and has since made 80 appearances, scoring 19 goals across all competitions.

His performances have attracted praise from across Europe, with many viewing Chelsea as a fitting environment for his continued development.

Following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday, manager Enzo Maresca spoke highly of Kudus’ talent, though he remained cautious.

“He’s a West Ham player, so I can’t say much. The only thing I can say is that I’ve known Kudus since his time at Ajax,” Maresca said.

West Ham are reportedly holding out for at least £60 million before considering any sale of the versatile forward.
