Chelsea have reportedly opened preliminary talks to sign Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo during the January transfer window.
According to The Athletic, the Premier League club initially planned to sign a new forward in the summer but have now approached Semenyo’s representatives to explore moving the deal forward.
The 25-year-old Bournemouth forward is attracting interest from several top English clubs, including Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool. Semenyo’s current contract runs until 2030 and includes a £65 million release clause, which becomes active in January.
Semenyo has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025-26 season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 16 league appearances.
Bournemouth had valued the player at £70 million during the summer, but the January release clause reduces the figure to £65 million. The clause has a specific activation date, giving the Cherries a brief window to find a replacement for their key forward.
If Bournemouth rejects offers in January, a similar clause may be triggered in the next transfer window, potentially at an even lower price.
