Operations at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality were temporarily disrupted on Monday, September 15, following a clash between two prominent National Democratic Congress (NDC) members over the district managerial position.
The standoff reportedly erupted when Madam Fati, the current Constituency Secretary, and Ayaa Ayison, a former parliamentary candidate, both arrived at the office claiming to hold appointment letters from the Presidency authorising them to assume the role.
The dispute forced officials from the Greater Accra NHIA regional office to step in. They are currently holding discussions with both factions at the district office to resolve the matter.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming who will assume the managerial position.
