A fierce fire outbreak has torn through several wooden structures around Madina Redco, causing residents to flee for safety as flames and falling electric cables cause chaos in the area.

The blaze, which erupted at Washing Bay, prompted a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), with firefighters from the Madina Fire Station taking the lead.

Reinforcements were quickly dispatched from the University of Ghana Fire Station, Abelenkpe, and the National Headquarters to assist in containing the fire.

As the situation escalated, top fire officials including the GNFS Greater Accra Regional Commander and the Deputy Director of Operations have arrived on the scene to coordinate firefighting efforts.

A water tanker from the National Headquarters has also been mobilised to support the operation as firefighters worked to douse the flames and prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings.

As of now, the fire has been successfully confined, though efforts are still ongoing to fully extinguish the remaining hotspots.

Meanwhile, The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has been contacted to cut power supply to the affected area to prevent further danger, while police were deployed to maintain order and manage the growing crowd.

This incident marks the second fire outbreak in less than a month at Ritz Junction, where a previous blaze also destroyed several makeshift wooden structures.
