The Chamber for Local Governance (ChaLoG) has threatened to initiate legal action against President Nana Akufo-Addo’s removal of some 24 Municipal Chief Executives (MDCEs).

The President on February 2 said the revocation is in accordance with Article 243(3) (B) of the constitution and Section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Government Act, 2014.

He subsequently announced the nomination of 26 new MDCEs as their replacements subject to the approval of assembly members in their respective districts.

Reacting to the development, the President of ChaLoG, Dr Richard Fiamador on Adom FM Burning Issues said the law quoted by Akufo-Addo is non-existent.

In view of this, he has asked that the presidency rectifies it if it is an oversight or face their wrath.

“Some of us are leaving in denial over the revocation because there is no law as quoted by the president. So there is legal issues ahead of us if this is not corrected,” Dr Fiamador stated.
