FIFA High-Performance Specialist Faisal Chibsah has thrown his support behind newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, expressing confidence in his ability to restore discipline within the national team.
The veteran Portuguese tactician takes over from Otto Addo, who was relieved of his duties following a disappointing run of four consecutive defeats in international friendlies last month. Queiroz has been handed a short-term mandate to steer Ghana through the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With less than three months until the tournament—set to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico—the 73-year-old faces the immediate task of preparing the Black Stars for the global stage.
Speaking to JoyNews, Chibsah underscored what he believes has been a major shortcoming in the team.
“He will bring a bit of discipline to the team, which, for me, was lacking a lot. We would see [discipline] and also [Ghana would] definitely get an identity,” he said.

Despite his optimism, Chibsah cautioned that the challenge ahead for Queiroz will require adaptability, particularly given the heightened expectations that come with managing Ghana.
“The challenge for Carlos now would be how adaptable he can be in taking on Ghana.
“Iran, Oman, Qatar [recent jobs of Queiroz] are not Ghana. Ghana, we expect more,” he stated.
Queiroz is expected to officially begin work with the squad next month, starting with an international friendly against Mexico, followed by a final preparatory match against Wales on June 2.
Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the World Cup and has been drawn in Group L. The Black Stars are scheduled to open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
Following early exits at the 2014 and 2022 FIFA World Cup tournaments, Queiroz will be tasked with rebuilding confidence within the squad and guiding the team toward a more competitive showing on football’s biggest stage.
