CAF approves Accra Sports Stadium for 2025/26 Inter-club matches

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the Accra Sports Stadium to host matches in this year’s inter-club competitions.

With the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi currently under renovation, Ghana’s representatives in the 2025/26 CAF tournaments, Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars, will play their home fixtures in the capital.

FA Cup champions Kotoko have been drawn against Nigeria’s Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup, while Premier League champions GoldStars will face Algeria’s JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League.

Both Ghanaian clubs will begin their campaigns between September 19 and 21, with the return legs scheduled for September 26 to 28 away from home. Kotoko will travel to Nigeria, while GoldStars will head to Algeria for the decider.

CAF’s latest inspection confirmed that the Accra Sports Stadium, though not fully meeting international standards, has been granted provisional approval to host preliminary-round matches for both competitions in September.
