A Burkinabé driver narrowly escaped death in an accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway after attempting to avoid a collision with a VIP bus at Odumasi near Ohene Nkwanta in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality.
The accident occurred on Friday when the VIP bus reportedly made a wrongful overtaking, forcing the driver of an 18-wheeler Sino Truck, with registration number BF-0338-T2-03, to veer off the road.
The truck, driven by Guigma Moise, was transporting an unknown quantity of heavy metals when the incident happened near the Rider Iron Steel Company.
According to sources, the driver, who was the only occupant of the truck, sustained injuries and was rushed to Hope Care Hospital for treatment.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service quickly responded to the scene and worked to remove the trailer from the road to prevent a traffic buildup.
