Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has pledged to complete the reconstruction of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium within four months.
The stadium, which is being upgraded to meet FIFA standards, will feature a 105m by 68m pitch, with an additional 10-meter perimeter clearance.
A 3,000-seater bleacher will be constructed on the western side, with one-meter-high platforms behind both goalposts to accommodate an additional 1,000 spectators on each side. The dressing rooms will also be relocated to the far eastern end of the pitch to improve accessibility.
Although earlier projections by the Middle Belt Development Authority indicated that the project would take longer to complete, Dr. Acheampong is confident construction will be expedited and completed within the promised timeframe.
The initiative aims to revitalise football in the Kwahu area and provide a modern sports facility for the local community.
Dr. Acheampong made the announcement during a stakeholders’ engagement in Nkawkaw.
Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankra, expressed appreciation for the MP’s commitment and reaffirmed efforts to restore Nkawkaw’s vibrant football culture.
