Morocco forward Brahim Díaz has etched his name into Africa Cup of Nations history by scoring in his fifth consecutive match at the 2025 tournament, matching a record first set by Ghana legend Osei Kofi in 1968.

Díaz’s strike helped the Atlas Lions secure a 2-0 quarter-final victory over Cameroon on Friday, booking their place in the semifinals.

The Real Madrid attacker has been a constant threat throughout the tournament, opening his account in Morocco’s opening win against Comoros and adding goals against Mali and Zambia in the group stage.

He then netted the decisive goal in the round of 16 against Tanzania before scoring again against Cameroon.

By scoring in five straight games, Díaz joins Osei Kofi, one of Ghana’s standout players of the 1960s, who was renowned for his scoring exploits in multiple AFCON tournaments.

Kofi’s legacy includes finishing as the top scorer in the 1965 Africa Cup of Nations and cementing his status as one of the continent’s early football icons.

Morocco now await the winner of the Algeria-Nigeria quarter-final clash. Should Díaz find the net in the semifinals, he would become the first player in AFCON history to score in six consecutive matches within a single edition.
