The Southern Zone Machines Sales Executive of BonAgro, Mr. Richard K. Tufuor, has called on the government to intensify efforts toward farm mechanisation, describing it as a key strategy to boost agricultural productivity and reduce unemployment in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Mr. Tufuor appealed to Members of Parliament to approve the 2026 national budget, noting that the Finance Minister has made provisions aimed at supporting farmers across the country.

He explained that sustained investment in farm mechanisation would not only improve efficiency and yields within the agricultural sector but also create employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.

Mr. Tufuor further urged the government to collaborate closely with BonAgro to ensure the supply of modern farming machinery to farmers. According to him, access to advanced agricultural equipment would ease the burden on farmers, enhance large-scale production, and stimulate job creation along the agricultural value chain.

“Mechanisation is critical to transforming agriculture and making it attractive to the younger generation. With the right support and partnerships, we can significantly reduce unemployment while strengthening food security,” he stated.

He expressed optimism that increased government commitment to mechanisation, coupled with stronger private sector collaboration, would contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s agricultural development and overall economic growth.
