Black Stars’ presence must be felt at 2026 World Cup – Kofi Adams

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams

Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has insisted that the Black Stars must make a strong impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, rather than merely participating.

Ghana, four-time African champions, are on the brink of qualification for the global tournament after an emphatic 5–0 victory over the Central African Republic on Wednesday in Morocco.

The team, led by head coach Otto Addo, needs just a point in their final qualifying match against Comoros on Sunday, October 12, to confirm their place at the World Cup.

In the previous edition of the tournament in Qatar, the Black Stars bowed out at the group stage after recording a single win.

Speaking to Joy News, Minister Adams expressed confidence that this time, Ghana’s performance will command attention on the world stage.

“I think this time around also, we will not just go to the World Cup to just add to the numbers,” Adams stated.

“We want to go there and let people feel our presence just the same way they did in South Africa in 2010.

“We want the world to feel our presence,” he added.

The decisive qualifier against Comoros is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 GMT.
