The Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, says the mood in the Black Stars camp remains highly competitive despite a reduced squad ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against South Korea in Seoul.
Nineteen players are currently in camp, with Francis Abu, Mohammed Salisu, and Antoine Semenyo all ruled out due to injury. Abu is recovering from a broken ankle, while Salisu and Semenyo have been sidelined with knocks.
Ghana fell 2-0 to Japan in the Kirin Cup last week, but Asante Twum believes the setback has only strengthened the players’ determination to impress.
“Aside from the national interest, there is also a personal interest. The players currently in camp know they cannot take this opportunity for granted,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.
“Not all of them will make it to the World Cup, so this is the time for them to showcase what they can do. Representing your country is always a great privilege. While our numbers are light at the moment, every player has taken the game seriously and is ready to make an impact,” he added.
Kick-off at Seoul World Cup Stadium is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., with the match forming a key part of Ghana’s preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
