Head of Player Relations at the Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG), Yussif Chibsah, has stressed that the Black Stars must avoid any mistakes as they face Mali in Matchday 8 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The crucial encounter will be played today at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Ghana seeking redemption after last week’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Chad in N’Djamena — a result that attracted widespread criticism.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show ahead of the game, Chibsah said the national team carries the hopes of the nation and must rise to the occasion.

“The Black Stars have the whole country’s destiny in their pocket today and can’t afford to disappoint Ghanaians,” he said.

He expressed confidence in the squad’s quality but urged the strikers to be more clinical in front of goal.
“We have the boys; now it’s up to our strikers to take their chances against Mali today.”

Chibsah also encouraged Ghanaians to put the Chad result behind them and rally behind the team.
“Ghanaians should forget the pain of the Chad game and rally behind the Black Stars today,” he added.

Ghana currently sits at the top of Group I with 16 points, just one ahead of Comoros, making today’s clash a decisive moment in the qualifying campaign. Kick-off is at 19:00 GMT.
