Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, insists the Black Stars can regain their former strength if the next head coach is chosen wisely.
Ghana is currently searching for a replacement for Otto Addo, who was dismissed following consecutive defeats to Austria and Germany in March’s pre-World Cup friendlies.
Names linked to the position include former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, 2014 World Cup-winning manager Joachim Low, and South African tactician Pitso Mosimane.
Speaking to Graphic Sports, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe suggested that even a temporary appointment could stabilise the team ahead of the tournament, with a long-term coach taking over after the World Cup.
He emphasised that the decision should prioritise leadership and strategy over sentiment.
“With the right appointment, Ghana can rebuild a strong and competitive Black Stars side,” he concluded.
The GFA is expected to announce the new head coach in the coming days, as the Black Stars prepare for their May friendly against Mexico, followed by a match against Wales.
At the World Cup this summer in the USA, Canada and Mexico, Ghana will face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L.
