Black Sherif earns nomination in 2025 BET Awards

Black Sherif, the hitmaker behind “Kwaku the Traveller,” has earned a coveted nomination for Best International Act at the 2025 BET Awards, putting Ghana’s flag high on one of the world’s biggest entertainment stages.

The nomination places him alongside some of the world’s most celebrated names, including Ayra Starr and Rema (Nigeria), Tyla (South Africa), Any Gabrielly and MC Luanna (Brazil), Ezra Collective and Basky (UK), Joé Dwèt Filé and SDM (France), and Uncle Waffles (Swaziland).

The 25th edition of the BET Awards will air live on June 9 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with award-winning comedian Kevin Hart as host.

This year’s show marks a major milestone for the BET brand, and Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with 10 nominations, including Album and Video of the Year.

Also unveiled were nominees for Best New International Act, including Shallipopi (Nigeria), Abigail Chams (Tanzania), Dlala Thukzin (South Africa), and others rising from Brazil, the UK, and France.

For Black Sherif, this nomination adds to his growing legacy and marks a new high point in Ghanaian music history.
