Black Queens face Benin in second WAFCON warm-up match

-

Ghana’s Black Queens will take on Benin in their second preparatory match ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to be hosted in Morocco.

The fixture is part of a series of three international friendlies announced earlier, which also includes a clash with Botswana, aimed at sharpening the team for the continental tournament.

Wednesday’s encounter will provide another opportunity for head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren and his technical team to assess the squad and build momentum heading into the competition.

The Queens kicked off their preparations on a strong note with a 3-1 victory over Malawi.

Ghana will wrap up their pre-tournament schedule with a high-profile showdown against arch-rivals Nigeria on Sunday, June 29.

The Black Queens open their WAFCON campaign on July 7 against reigning champions South Africa in a Group C encounter.

This marks Ghana’s return to the competition for the first time since 2018, and the team will be aiming to make a strong statement on their comeback.
