Black Queens could have scored more against Malawi – Coach Bjorkegren

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren believes his side could have secured a more emphatic victory in their 3-1 win over Malawi in a pre-2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) friendly on Saturday evening.

The match, played at the Ziaida Complex in Morocco, marked Ghana’s first win in four games as the team continues preparations for the continental tournament.

Speaking after the game, Bjorkegren praised his team’s overall performance but expressed disappointment over their lack of efficiency in front of goal.

“The start was probably a little bit slow, but otherwise, we were the better team the whole game,” he said.
“We produced so many chances. We won the game 3-1, but if you are looking at the chances, we could have scored probably six, seven today. But the most important thing is to win.”

The Black Queens will play Benin on Wednesday in their second warm-up match, before wrapping up their preparatory campaign with a high-profile encounter against Nigeria.

Ghana has been drawn in Group C at the 2024 WAFCON, where they will face reigning champions South Africa, Tanzania, and Mali.
