Ghana’s U-15 girls’ team, the Black Damsels, have been awarded $300,000 following their triumph at the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship in Harare.
The young side capped an impressive campaign with a dramatic victory over Burkina Faso in Friday’s final, successfully defending the title they won in the previous edition.
Having booked their place in the showdown with a win against Zambia, the Black Damsels maintained their composure in a tightly contested decider.
The final ended goalless after regulation time, forcing the match into a tense penalty shootout where the Ghanaians edged Burkina Faso 10-9 to seal the championship.
As champions, Ghana receive $300,000 in prize money, while runners-up Burkina Faso take home $200,000.
The funds are earmarked for developmental projects, including the construction of libraries, classrooms, and sports facilities, to ensure a lasting impact beyond the tournament.
The team, along with their technical staff, is expected to return to Ghana on Saturday.
