‘Big Push’ road projects to run 24 hours – Agbodza

Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has announced that all road contracts under the government’s ambitious ‘Big Push’ infrastructure initiative will be executed on a 24-hour construction schedule.

He made this known on Wednesday, July 30, at the Government Accountability Series held at the Jubilee House in Accra.

Mr. Agbodza said the decision to work around the clock on these strategic projects is aimed at accelerating delivery timelines and reducing disruption to public life.

He noted that the 24-hour policy will apply to key national roads and urban corridors that have high economic and social value.

“Every contractor working under the ‘Big Push’ programme will be expected to operate in three shifts,” he explained.

“We are not going to allow road construction to drag unnecessarily. These are critical roads needed to open up the economy and improve connectivity.”

The Minister also indicated that measures have been put in place to ensure contractors are adequately resourced and supervised.

“We’ll monitor progress closely to ensure that quality is not compromised despite the speed of delivery. Ghanaians deserve value for money, and we are determined to give them exactly that,” he added.
