Bibiani GoldStars have announced Swiss coach Fritz Markus Schmid as their new head coach, signing him on a two-year deal.
Schmid replaces Frimpong Manso, who was dismissed following the club’s first-leg CAF Champions League loss to Algerian side JS Kabily.
In a statement, the club welcomed Schmid, highlighting his extensive experience at top levels of football.
“Coach Fritz comes with deep experience at the highest levels of the game. He has previously worked as an assistant coach with Tottenham Hotspur, FC Basel, and the Austria National Team, and later served as Head Coach of the New Zealand Men’s National Team. More recently, he played a key role in guiding Kotoku Royals to promotion into the Ghana Premier League.
“He now joins the Miners as we begin an exciting new chapter focused on ambition, steady growth, and long-term success.”
The statement added that Schmid joins Bibiani GoldStars as the team looks to enter a new era of ambition and sustained growth.
“Welcome to the family, Coach Fritz. We’re glad to have you with us
.”
Schmid will begin his tenure as the Miners prepare to host Dreams FC at DUN’s Park in Matchday 16, with Bibiani currently sitting third in the Ghana Premier League standings.
