The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Bibiani Gold Stars, Samuel Kwagyire, has confirmed that former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has been approached to take over from Frimpong Manso.
Manso, who led the team to their first league title in history last May, was surprisingly sacked after Bibiani Gold Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to JS Kabylie on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie.
Manso’s assistant, Nana Yaw Amankwah, will lead the team for the return leg in Algeria on Sunday.
Speaking to Luv FM, Kwagyire explained that the club intends to make a careful decision that aligns with its long-term vision. He confirmed that Maxwell Konadu is among the candidates being considered for the vacant coaching role.
“Management is working to ensure that, at the end of the day, they make a firm decision on who will take over from Coach Frimpong Manso. In the meantime, the assistant coach, Nana Yaw Amankwah, will oversee preparations for the second leg against JS Kabylie,” he said.
Kwagyire added that the club is reviewing a full list of potential coaches to ensure the final choice fits the team’s future plans. “Coach Maxwell’s name has been mentioned, but there are also several other candidates under consideration. Management will finalise the appointment carefully,” he noted.
