The Sempe Mantse of the Sempe Traditional Area of Accra and Mankralo of the Ga State, Nii Adotey Otintor, has urged chiefs and traditional leaders across the country to be cautious in their dealings with politicians.
According to him, some politicians make attractive promises during election campaigns but fail to fulfil them after gaining political power.
“Too often, politicians make grand commitments during elections, only to abandon those promises after assuming office,” Nii Adotey Otintor said in an interview.
He charged chiefs to remain firm, courageous and guided by wisdom in demanding development for their traditional areas.
“For it is a weak or selfish chief that causes societies to crumble, not the people themselves,” he stated.
The Sempe Mantse urged traditional leaders not to judge politicians based solely on speeches and campaign messages, but rather by their track records, integrity and ability to deliver results.
“A true politician is measured by integrity, by the fulfilment of promises, and by tangible results, not empty rhetoric,” he said.
Nii Adotey Otintor further advised chiefs to demand accountability, transparency and a genuine commitment to the welfare of citizens before supporting any individual seeking public office.
He also appealed to the government to renew its commitment to the development of key institutions and projects in Ga Mashie, including Sempe School and Salaga Market.
The Mankralo of Ga State called for the restoration of abandoned educational institutions and development projects across the country, stressing the need for government to prioritise initiatives that improve the lives of citizens.
Nii Adotey Otintor reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the welfare, cultural heritage and development of the Ga-Dangme people, urging traditional leaders to continue playing an active role in promoting progress within their communities.
