BECE candidate passes on in Kwahu Praso

-

A 14-year-old candidate writing the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has died at Kwahu Praso in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The deceased has been identified as Jennifer Osei Nyamah, a pupil of Kwahu Praso Preparatory School.

The tragic incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025—the second day of the week-long examination.

According to her father, Gordon Osei, Jennifer complained of a headache before the start of the exams on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. After completing that day’s papers, she was rushed to a clinic for treatment. However, her condition worsened during the night, prompting a transfer to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw.

Sadly, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Municipal Education Director, Williams Frimpong, while describing the death as devastating, encouraged the other candidates to stay focused and complete their exams.

Some of Jennifer’s classmates expressed shock and trauma over her passing, but said their teachers had urged them to remain calm and composed.
