The 2024 New Patriotic Party(NPP) Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has visited Herbert, the KNUST student who was stabbed in the Bantama constituency of the Ashanti region.
The former Vice President visited the victim on Wednesday evening at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
He was accompanied by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Wontumi, Effiduase-Asokore MP, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, among other leading members.
Dr. Bawumia expressed his best wishes to Herbert and donated GH¢50,000 to support his medical expenses.
Herbert’s grandmother, who received the donation on his behalf, expressed gratitude to Dr. Bawumia and the entourage for the kind gesture.

Earlier reports suggested that he was a supporter of former Assin Central MP and 2024 NPP presidential aspirant, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
However, Herbert has been identified as a member of the Unity Hall “jama group” at KNUST, invited to perform at the event.
He was stabbed in the upper right rib during a scuffle.
The confrontation reportedly began when the students attempted to prevent the armed men from taking away cash presented after the event.
