The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to forgive one another for misunderstandings and harsh exchanges during the recent campaign season, emphasizing the need for unity as the party charts a new path forward.
Speaking at the National Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Dr. Bawumia appealed for reconciliation and collective healing following the heated political period.
“On this day, as we gather to celebrate and give thanks, I humbly ask that we forgive one another for some of the unpalatable things that may have been said during the campaign,” he said.
He stressed that unity and reconciliation are crucial as the NPP reorganizes for the next political cycle.
“I have been encouraged by the efforts many of you have made to reach out to your brothers and sisters after the elections. While I acknowledge that the work of healing is not yet complete, I believe we have made a good start, and I commend all patriots for the steps taken so far,” Dr. Bawumia added.
His remarks come as the party embarks on internal reorganization aimed at strengthening cohesion and preparing for future electoral contests.
