Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is struggling to deliver on many of the promises it made to Ghanaians before the 2024 general elections.

Speaking to delegates at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, he said the NDC won power on what he described as lofty promises, but is yet to deliver many of them to voters.

Among the promises he said had not yet produced the results Ghanaians expected was the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.

“The NDC promised Ghanaians and the youth of this country in search for jobs a flagship 24 hour economy with one job, three shifts and three people… nearly two years have passed and the jobs have not come or even showing any signs of coming.

“The young graduate and artisan who voted for the NDC because of this sweet promise… is still waiting for his or her shift. Sadly the promised 24 hour economy jobs has now turned into 24 hour demolition of buildings for so called 24 hour markets even the NDC cannot explain,” he said.

Dr Bawumia said this should push the NPP to stay focused on rebuilding and strengthening itself as it prepares for the next general election. He urged party members to unite around that task.
