Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has led a delegation of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members to the residence of the late Akwatia MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi, to commiserate with his family.
The visit took place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the MP’s home in Spintex, Accra.
The high-powered delegation included former and current Members of Parliament and party officials such as former Suame MP and Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; former Greater Accra Regional Minister and Tema East MP, Daniel Titus-Glover; Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi); Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin; and Bimbilla MP, Dominic Nitiwul.
During the visit, the NPP delegation signed a book of condolence opened in honour of the late MP and offered words of comfort to the grieving family.
Ernest Yaw Kumi, a first-time MP, died on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the age of 40 after a short illness. Reports indicate he had complained of chest pains prior to his passing, though the exact cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed.
He was also a student at the Ghana School of Law (Makola) at the time of his death. The late MP leaves behind a wife and three children.
