Fermin Lopez’s sensational strike was the pick of the bunch as Barcelona returned to winning ways and La Liga’s top spot.

Hansi Flick’s side, who had lost their previous two games, would have been buoyed by Real Madrid’s shock loss to Osasuna on Saturday night.

And they were in front after four minutes against sorry Levante when a short corner eventually led to Eric Garcia’s pass finding Marc Bernal to score with a low finish, his second in two home games after netting against Mallorca.

They created a hatful of chances before the break with Raphinha’s glancing header going wide and Lamine Yamal firing a long-range effort over.

Levante’s best chance of the half fell to Jon Ander Olasagasti whose shot inside the box was saved.

The hosts made it 2-0 before the break when a sublime Joao Cancelo cross found Frenkie de Jong to score with a volley at the near post, his first goal for the club since January 2025.

The second half was a similar story with Barca dominating and Matthew Ryan making good saves from Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo.

Barca brought on Pedri, Ferran Torres and Lopez for the closing stages.

And it was the latter who scored the goal of the game with a long-range strike which flew into the top corner following a corner.

The result sees Flick’s side go one point clear of Los Blancos while Levante remain in 19th position, seven points from safety.
