Former Auditor-General and member of the committee that probed petitions against former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo has alleged that her lawyer, Ayikoi Otoo, presented a falsified document during the proceedings.
In an interview on the KSM show, Daniel Yao Domelovo described as “intriguing” Mr. Otoo’s recent criticisms of the committee and his accusations of procedural irregularities.
“Mr. Otoo’s attack on me, I find it very interesting. He said he had presented all the evidence to Mr. Domelevo, a former Auditor General, and I sat there and didn’t take it. Whatever influenced my decision, he didn’t know. I want to put it on record that he provided us with evidence that was fake,” he said.
Mr. Otoo, earlier on Joy FM News’ Newsfile, had claimed that the committee ignored key evidence, relied on questionable evidence and acted unfairly.
However, Mr. Domelevo has explained that one of the disputed documents appeared to bear the signature of the Judicial Secretary and purportedly appointed the Chief Justice, a process he described as irregular and deeply concerning in terms of authenticity.
“It will interest you to know that the letter he presented was signed by the Judicial Secretary appointing the Chief Justice,” he added.
