The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East, Baba Ali, has expressed confidence that the constituency is on the verge of a political shift as voting continues.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, he highlighted what he described as clear signs of a change in voter sentiment, expressing optimism that the outcome would favour his party.

“Let’s wait till 5 p.m.; the Ayawaso East seat will change hands, Insha Allah. It is obvious we are going to win this election,” he said.

Baba Ali also urged constituents to cast their ballots calmly and in large numbers, appealing for strong voter turnout in his favour.

Reacting to a recent Global InfoAnalytics survey projecting a 75 percent victory for the NDC’s Baba Jamal, he questioned the reliability of the poll, citing events on the ground that suggest a different trajectory.

“Not long ago, you conducted a poll in Ayawaso here, and what happened? This is Ayawaso East. Here, the data doesn’t work in that manner. What is happening currently on the ground will prove that the data is clearly wrong. So let’s wait and see,” he stated.

He also described the voting process so far as calm and well-organised.
