A poll conducted by research firm Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that Hajia Amina Adam, the widow of late MP Mahama Toure Naser, is in a commanding lead ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026.
The data shows Hajia Amina Adam consistently ahead of her closest rival, Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal. Among general voters in the constituency, Hajia Amina Adam is polling 58 per cent, compared to Baba Jamal’s 32 per cent.
The results suggest a clear preference for Hajia Amina Adam among the wider electorate as the party prepares for its internal contest.
Beyond general voters, the poll also modelled potential outcomes using responses from party delegates on key controversies surrounding the race.
Global InfoAnalytics noted that the NDC primaries operate under a first-past-the-post system, meaning the candidate with a simple majority wins outright. In all scenarios tested, Hajia Amina Adam consistently surpassed that threshold.
The analysis further indicated that a victory for Hajia Amina Adam could have implications for broader NDC leadership dynamics and for race modelling ahead of the 2028 general elections, as Ayawaso East is seen as a strategic constituency for comparing delegate behaviour with general voter sentiment.
The other aspirants, Constituency Chairman Mohammed Ramme, Dr. Yakubu Azindow, Najib Mohammed Sani, and Salam Daru, polled 5 per cent, 3 per cent, and 2 per cent respectively.
The Ayawaso East by-election follows the death of sitting MP Mahama Naser Toure on January 4, 2026, after a short illness.
