Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has dismissed claims suggesting that investigative agencies are being used to silence the Minority in Parliament.
In his concluding remarks as the House rose for the year, Ayariga said he has never witnessed such practices in his nearly two decades of parliamentary service.
“I have been in this House for close to two decades—as an opposition member, as a minister, and now as Majority Leader. I have never seen anything like that,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin used his closing address to urge Members of Parliament to prioritise their health and spend quality time with their families.
He emphasised the importance of self-care and being proactive about medical conditions, highlighting the inevitability of life’s uncertainties.
“To all honourable members, please spend time with your family. We’ve worked hard enough. Let’s use this period to check our health,” he said.
“When we leave this House, the Constitution requires that there must be a replacement. Life will go on without you. Don’t be afraid to know your medical condition. It is better to know and treat it than live in fear of the unknown, only for it to worsen.”
