The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly has issued a final eviction notice to traders operating at the old market in Kasoa, marking the commencement of a major redevelopment project aimed at transforming the area’s commercial infrastructure.
A taskforce from the Assembly, led by its commander Nana Adeiao IV, visited the market to reinforce the directive and urged traders to vacate the premises immediately. According to the taskforce, demolition works are imminent and will proceed as scheduled.

The latest notice follows an earlier deadline of March 27 for traders to relocate, which many failed to meet. In response, the Assembly granted a temporary extension to allow trading activities during the Easter period, with the expectation that traders would move out shortly after the holidays.
Authorities say alternative arrangements have been made for affected traders at the Kasoa Iron City Market, where they are expected to resume their businesses.
Speaking to the media after the engagement, Nana Adeiao IV reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to the redevelopment project, noting that it forms part of broader efforts to modernise market facilities and boost economic activity within the municipality.
He cautioned traders against resisting the eviction and urged them to cooperate with authorities to avoid any confrontations.
He also warned against misinformation, advising traders not to be misled by claims that the eviction will not take place or to pay money to individuals promising to halt the process.
