A remarkable private art collection, amassed over 25 years by Awentami Paul Afoko, will be showcased to the public as part of the 2025 Feok Festival in Sandema.

The exhibition, titled The Awentami Paul Afoko Collection, is scheduled to run from December 16 to 20 at Adakuruk, Afoko’s hilltop residence overlooking the historic Zamramra Battle site, where warriors once repelled the slave raider Babatu.

A native of Sandema, Mr. Afoko has spent decades collecting contemporary and modern Ghanaian artworks from both emerging and established artists. His collection features pieces by renowned names such as Hacajaka, James Cudjoe, Godfried Donkoh, Larry Otoo, Francis Nunoo, Glen Turner, Prof. E. K. Tetteh, Patrick Tagoe-Turkson, and Nigerian Oshogbo artist Chief Buraimoh.

While these works are usually displayed across his offices and homes in Accra and Sandema, this exhibition marks the first time the public will have access to what is considered one of northern Ghana’s most significant private art collections.

The event is curated by the former director of the Art Gallery at the National Theatre and organized in collaboration with the Museum of Ghanaian Art.

Residents and visitors attending the Feok Festival are expected to flock to the venue to experience this unique display of creativity and cultural heritage.
