Special Prosecutor nominee, Martin A.B.K Amidu, says he once rejected contracts for services he rendered to the country over the years in his fight against corruption.
He said even though he was inundated with awards after he won recent cases at the Supreme Court, he did not accept them because his actions were in the interest of the nation and not for his selfish interest.
The nominee made this known during his vetting on Tuesday when he was asked by Parliament’s Appointment’s Committee about his position on personal awards.

“People called me about my case at the Supreme Court and offered me awards but I told them that it wasn’t about me, it’s about Ghana”, he said.
He continued that “I generally don’t accept awards, I’d prefer people to emulate what I have done”.
Mr Amidu has been celebrated for his anti-corruption activities, especially after he won a case at the Supreme Court to cross-examine businessman, Alfred Woyome over the alleged wrongful payment of the GHS 51.2 to him.
But the former Attorney General who claims to derive his satisfaction in people emulating his good works stressed that so many NGOs, Radio stations and TV stations offered him awards but he rejected them.
