Former Nasara Organiser aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awal Mohammed, has called on party supporters to rally behind newly elected National Nasara Organiser, Alhaji Ali Suraj, to ensure his success in the role.

Mr Mohammed said he had personally congratulated Alhaji Suraj following his election and subsequently visited him at his private office at Aboabo in the Asawase constituency.

According to him, the two are constituents and neighbours, living only a few houses apart.

In a Facebook post, Mr Mohammed recounted that he had initially planned to visit Alhaji Suraj after the declaration of the results but was unable to receive him when the newly elected organiser unexpectedly visited his home.

He said he had travelled to Asante Effiduasi to visit his mother and spent the night there when Alhaji Suraj called him around 9:30am to inform him that he had stopped by his residence.

Mr Mohammed said he later returned to Accra and visited Alhaji Suraj to formally congratulate him and wish him well in his new position.

He disclosed that they held what he described as frank and productive discussions on the future of the Nasara wing.

According to him, Alhaji Suraj also promised to organise a meeting involving the two of them and another colleague to develop a strategic plan for the wing going forward.

Mr Mohammed urged all contestants and supporters to accept the outcome of the election and give the new Nasara Organiser the necessary support to succeed.

“The delegates have made their choice, and it is now our duty to offer him the maximum support needed to succeed. His success is vital, as it will ultimately propel Dr. Bawumia to the presidency,” he said.

He described the contest as a family affair, stressing that all the candidates entered the race with the shared objective of strengthening the NPP’s presence in Zango communities and supporting the presidential ambitions of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mr Mohammed also highlighted the significance of Alhaji Suraj’s election, noting that it was the first time since the establishment of the Nasara wing that a person from the Ashanti Region had been elected to lead the organisation nationally.

He therefore urged stakeholders from the region to treat Alhaji Suraj’s tenure as a collective responsibility.

“If he succeeds, this leadership portfolio will remain in our region for a long time; if he fails, it may leave,” he said.

Mr Mohammed called on NPP members and supporters to rally behind Alhaji Suraj and provide him with the support required to deliver on his mandate.

He expressed confidence that a united Nasara wing could help the NPP expand its influence in Zango communities and weaken the political presence of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in those areas.

“Together, we must ensure he excels as a national officer to dismantle the NDC’s influence in the Zango communities, Insha’Allah,” he added.

Mr Mohammed also thanked Nasara organisers across the country for the warm reception and support they extended to him and his campaign team during the electioneering period.
