The Avenor Traditional Council has marked the 2025 edition of the Avenor Tutudoza Za Festival with a renewed call for skills acquisition, job creation, and sustainable economic development to secure the future of the Avenor State.

This year’s festival, held under the theme “Securing the Future of Avenor through Skills Acquisition, Employment, and Economic Growth,” brought together traditional leaders, youth groups, development partners, and community members from across the region.

Addressing the grand durbar, the President of the Avenor Traditional Council and Paramount Chief of the Avenor Traditional Area, Torgbui Dorglo Anumah VI, underscored the importance of investing in human capital and strengthening community-led development. He noted that the theme reflects the urgent need to equip the youth with relevant skills for an evolving economy.

“This year has brought its challenges, yet our unity has grown stronger,” Torgbui Anumah VI said. “Through the theme of this year’s festival, we align ourselves with the government’s 24-hour economy vision and eagerly anticipate the construction of a 24-hour economy market in our district — a transformative project that will expand employment, sharpen skills, and invigorate our local economy.”

He also highlighted the successful lobbying efforts of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, which have paved the way for the Avenorfeme Youth Institution to be upgraded into a full-fledged technical school. “This development reaffirms our commitment to empowering the youth with practical, world-class skills,” he added.

The Paramount Chief emphasized that Avenor’s transformation hinges on a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and sustaining local industries. He called on government agencies, NGOs, and private sector actors to collaborate with the Traditional Council to expand training and employment opportunities for young people.

He further stressed the importance of cultural unity and heritage in building a resilient society, urging Avenor citizens both home and abroad to support development efforts in education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure.

According to Torgbui Anumah VI, the Tutudoza Za Festival is not only a celebration of identity and tradition but also a platform for mobilizing resources and forging partnerships for the socioeconomic advancement of Avenor.

This year’s colourful celebration featured traditional drumming and dancing, displays of Avenor regalia, and the participation of dignitaries from across the Volta Region and beyond. Many community members expressed optimism that the renewed focus on skills and economic empowerment will create more opportunities for the youth.

Speaking on behalf of the festival’s planning committee, Chairman Torgbui Tali Gafatsi III reflected on the festival’s growth since its inception in 2018. He highlighted its role in promoting unity, culture, and development, noting that proceeds from the festival have supported major projects including the Avenor Traditional Palace with a conference centre and the mechanization of a borehole for the Akatsi Marhealth Centre.

“The festival has brought us together as one people and rebranded Avenor State, attracting investors and tourists while boosting our local economy,” Torgbui Tali Gafatsi III said. “From the construction of the Traditional Palace to supporting community facilities, Avenor Tutudoza continues to drive purposeful development.”

This year’s Tutudoza Za celebration reaffirmed the Avenor Traditional Council’s commitment to building a prosperous future anchored in education, hard work, and strategic development.
